Get Help at Your Desk

Most of us have been working from home for almost a year now, often in less-than-ideal situations, with unsuitable equipment. We long for the interaction of office life again and the pleasantries of our own desks, chairs and monitors.

Poor workstation environments can lead to many differing issues from lower back and neck pain to shoulder and wrist injuries. If this is you, you are not alone. The majority of patients presenting to clinic over lockdown are suffering with pain and discomfort directly attributable to months of long hours working at home.

The good news is that many of us have the materials necessary to adapt our working setups at home to help reduce the occupational strains to manageable levels to get us through the proceeding few months before the return to a more favourable setup.

Here Are 4 Tips We Recommend to Get You Started:

  • Use the timer on your phone for 20-minute alarms to help you take more regular breaks.

  • Move away from your desk in these breaks for at least a minute to improve blood flow.

  • Don’t sit so that your hips are lower than your knees.

  • Don’t tuck your feet and legs under your chair, if your seat is too high that you cannot place your feet comfortably on the floor then find something slightly angled towards you to put your feet on.

At Clemow Therapies we are qualified to provide workstation assessments and we can provide bespoke health advice to help with individuals who are already suffering pain. As part of our service we also believe it is important to educate our patients to help prevent any issues developing.

We are offering a Virtual Workstation Assessment service to work at adapting your workstation setup at home using the materials at hand or alternatively to provide information to purchase effective and suitable equipment for your home. The Virtual Assessment will take up to 45 minutes to complete. A further virtual appointment may be required for those who are suffering with an existing injury to complete any required health advice separate from the Virtual Assessment report.

We aim to continue to provide the high level of service adapting to your needs during this difficult time.
